They Have No Cause to Criticize SEALs

Bush supporters are frantically trying to get some credit for bringing down Osama bin Laden. While trying to get credit, they are at the same time diminishing this enormous accomplishment.
Rush Limbaugh, on the local WEEB radio station, criticized the Navy SEALs for using bomb-sniffing dogs. As part of that show he also participated in a conversation with a call-in fan saying photos of bin Laden were not made public, implying the SEALs shot bin Laden in the back. Criticizing the SEALs is highly objectionable, very offensive and an insult to the them.
Glenn Beck said the ceremony at ground zero was “disgusting,” “obscene” and “grotesque.” It would be interesting to know what the policemen, firemen and family members thought.
In drawing attention to themselves, (Limbaugh and Beck) have also reignited the nation-splitting issues of torture, weapons of mass destruction and the invasion of Iraq. Bringing down bin Laden was an enormous accomplishment. It is a shame the nation can’t experience this enormous accomplishment without being detoured or distracted with sideshows and self-serving rhetoric.

Why would anyone with a thougth process give time to listening to Rush Limbaugh or Glenn Beck? Both have proven to be 8% off center with their comments and remarks. If their diatribes were the only source of news or a fabrication thereof, I would take longer walks to improve my cardiac function as opposed to high blood pressure just listening to those two. Add Neal Boortz and Michael Savage to the mix and we have a psychiatric hospital ward...The only comment and book that came from Neal Boortz is the FAIRTAX.

No one should criticize our military. Their training is grueling. They practically drown SEALS in training-most drop out of training verrryy early. Most of the people running their mouths have never served or know (thank God) what it's like to be in harms way. Imagine how they felt when they dropped in...

Conservatives can dish out the insults but they can't ever take them. I used that "Why do they hate the troops" line because it became such a wingnut cliche back in the early days of the Second Gulf War, directed against anyone who dared question Dear Leader Bush.
But throw it back at them, even tongue in cheek, and listen to them squeal.

Truth is we (conservatives) hate everyone, there its out, lindac you nailed us. Dusty I know you knew it all along. Dusty I read every piece your write here in the Pilot, I think they are funny, smart, and most of the time misguided (at least that's what I tell people), but now, because of lindac and Courseaires' brilliance, I know I hate you. Its a shame too, I would have loved having a beer with you before realizing my hatred. Hey, you know what my Mom has always been very liberal... I'm gonna hate this phone call.

They do, and they think I'm wasting my time arguing with idiots. I keep hearing the line about wrestling with pigs...you both get dirty but the pig likes it. Also the one about when you argue with a fool he drags you down to his level where he's got more experience.
They're probably right on both counts.
Oh, and they generally cite you as a prime example of both of the above categories.

The truth is that too many of you have nothing to do. Hate talking heads? Turn them off. If you are going to listen to them so that you may start an obsurd arguement then, at least, get your "facts" straight, and pick a subject with some merit.

I took the time to read WORD FOR WORD the transcrips from the show in question, and PAT NEVINS COULD NOT BE MORE WRONG!!!!!

The only critics I have read lambasting the SEALS are the nasty Liberal idiots Mike Moore, Rosie What's her name?, and Chomsky, etc. I have not heard ANY Republican comments that were in any way critical of the SEALS. And if you come right down to it, and are honest, you will admit that the Bush administration deserves a whole lot more credit than what Obama and Boys are giving. I still have yet to figure out what "gutsy" decision was made by Obama...apparently nobody knows but they still repeat after the media line.

Since people tend to criticize people like Moore, and Chomsky for what they think they've said rather than what they actually said, maybe you can give us some examples of this "lambasting" of the SEALS themselves, rather than the mission and the orders supposedly given by Obama.
For example, here's Michael Moore's ACTUAL mention of the SEALS:
Here’s my take: I know a number of Navy SEALs. In fact (and this is something I don’t like to talk about publicly, for all the obvious reasons), I hire only ex-SEALs and ex-Special Forces guys to handle my own security (I’ll let you pause a moment to appreciate that irony). These SEALs are trained to follow orders. I don’t know what their orders were that night in Abbottabad, but it certainly looks like a job (and this is backed up in a piece in the Atlantic) where they were told to not bring bin Laden back alive. The SEALs are pros at what they do and they instantly took out every adult male (every potential threat) within a few minutes – but they also took care to not harm a single one of the nine children who were present. Pretty amazing.
Now, I disagree with Moore on his assertion that the SEALS were told not to bring bin Laden back alive but instead to "execute him". I think it's perfectly logical to believe that they were told, "capture him if you can, but don't put yourselves at risk," and that everyone knew full well that the terrorist who said he wanted to die fighting Americans wasn't likely to surrender. C'est la vie, c'est la guerre.
But Moore's criticism as I read it is of Obama, not the SEALS. In fact, Moore's criticized Obama quite a bit, and I don't know why the Right isn't happier about that. Maybe because they've never actually read Moore, but instead become enraged at some version of Michael Moore that lives only in their imagination. I have some sympathy for him on that regard, as people seem to do that to me all the time.

In 2007 a house of representatives reslolution: Commending Rush Hudson Limbaugh for his tireless support of our Troops. Rush Hudson Limbaugh has given Millions of dollars(his dollars) to Marine and Law Enforcement Groups to set up scholarships for children of military people and police officers who died in the line of duty. In 2003, five different pilots from five different aircraft carriers dipslayed flags on the sides of their planes in honor of Rush Hudson's Limbaugh's support of our military. Rush Hudson Limbaugh, on his dime, flew to Afghanistan to show his support for our troops. One of those pilot's, who flew his plane with the flag in support of Limbaugh, son recently died from a rare and horrilbe form of bone cancer. Rush Limbaugh stayed in constant contact with that pilot, visiting him and his son often during his son's battle with this cancer. One day Rush was not on the air. He and his wife had gone to attend the funeral of the pilot's son.The next day Limbaugh did a testimonial to both this brave pilot and his son's brave battle against cancer. At times the air would go silent as Rush Limbaugh posed to regain his composure. I doubt there was a dry eye in his audience that day, including me. Diane

And the comments in this column have translated into exactly what the whole editorial was about. A left vs right war of words. I guess the politics of this country have degenerated to this. So much for the country that is supposed to be the leader of the free world, fortunately this is only the prevailing climate in Moore County.
