Traffic on West Pennsylvania has returned to normal following the repair of a gas leak that was reported this morning.

West Pennsylvania Aveneue between Gaines and Hardin streets was closed for about four hours. During the closure traffic was rerouted.

At approximately 10:30 a.m. the Southern Pines police and fire departments began investigating a reported gas leak at 1072 W. Pennsylvania Ave near the intersection of Gaines Street, according to a release from the police department.

Also around that time, a power outage affected 208 residents in the area of May Street, E. Connecticut, E. Pennsylvania and E. New Hampshire avenues and the surrounding area.

Power has been restored.
