Nearly 200 visitors came to the St. Andrews Presbyterian College campus recently to learn more about the educational programs offered.

“There were close to 50 prospective students from 11 states and their families,” said Cynthia Robinson, vice president for enrollment management. “While nearly two-thirds of the students were for the fall, several were planning ahead for the next two years.”

Participants began the Saturday event with a meet-and-greet session in the John Blue Lab of the Morgan-Jones Science Building that included tables of information about the various academic and social opportunities available at St. Andrews.

Next came the formal information session that included statistics about the college and experiences shared by current students and alumni representatives Matthew Clark and Perry Morris.

“After the introductory session, our students and their families got to experience the classroom with members of our faculty,” Robinson said. “For this event, we had professors Mike Morton, Stephanie McDavid, John Knesel, Pam Case and Edna Ann Loftus sharing their insights.”

Following the classroom sessions, the five groups were brought around the campus by a group of student tour guides.

A large number of the students registered arrived Friday afternoon for a tour of the Equestrian Center, which was busy Saturday with the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) Hunter Seat Regional competition. Several returned to the Equestrian Center to see the competition after the campus information sessions.

“We were very impressed with the quality of students attending this event and their clear commitment to the programs of interest,” Robinson said.
