Hole-in-One: Bill Woodruff, a member at Whispering Woods, shot a hole-in-one on April 29 while playing the 155-yard par- three eighth hole. He used his 5-hybrid iron to reach the green. His playing partners were Bill Bartlett, Ken Pomeroy and Jim Willard.
This was Bill’s fifth hole-in-one, carding four at Whispering Pines and one at Cheraw State Park Golf Course.
Janis Tartalio, a member of Pinewild, scored an ace on May 1 on the 120-yard eighth hole of the Holly Course. She used her 4-hybrid to reach the hole. Her playing partners were Jen Donahue, Tim Donahue and Paul Tartalio.
Whispering Woods: The Men’s Golf Association played on April 29 in a one low net team event. Al Gaeta, Tom Lyon, Tony Rodriguez and a Blind Draw won with 57.
On May 2 the Men’s Golf Association played a team event and the format was three low net balls of the foursome. Bill Anderson, Bob Carlson, John Hamm and Fred Miller carded 184, 32 under par.
Midland: Neil Hartwick is the 2011 winner of the President’s Cup with a net score of 127. This is an individual net scores only tournament, played over 36 holes.
Matchmakers: Competition was played at Deercroft on April 19 with the following seven clubs participating: Sanford, Foxfire, Deercroft, Whispering Woods, Woodlake, Beacon Ridge and Midland.

The Pinettes played on April 26, 29 and May 3 in a weather- delayed handicap tournament. Rounds one and two were played on the East Course, with the playoff round competition on the West Course. The format was match play, single elimination, with a three-hole playoff to determine the 2011 champion.
Helen Gibbons won the championship and Louise Warnimont was the runner-up, determined after the three-hole playoff.
