Aberdeen Man Faces Weapon, Drug Charges

An Aberdeen man faces weapon and drug charges after being arrested by Southern Pines police early Thursday morning.

Floyd Elmer Williams, 26, has been charged with weapon possession by felon of firearms, possess with intent to manufacture, sell, deliver Schedule VI controlled substance and possess controlled substance Schedule VI, according to a press release.

The arrest stemmed from a report at 3:18 a.m. Thursday that people were preparing to fight at the intersection of Shaw Avenue and Richards Street in Southern Pines, according to the release.

Officers responded and during the subsequent investigation discovered Williams in possession of a semi-automatic handgun and narcotics, according to the release.

Williams was jailed, with bail set at $100,000.
