Joseph Morris is a three time all-conference performer for the Union Pines Viking Cross Country team.

This season at the Cape Fear Valley Conference championship meet he finished second for the Vikes and fourth overall to help his team win its third consecutive conference tournament crown.

His junior season Morris placed eighth at the CFVC championship meet, as the fourth Viking and seventh runner overall. The performance again earned him all-conference honors and also helped Union Pines win the event in dominate fashion. improving to 22-0 on the season. Morris then finished 45th at the Mid-East Regional with a time of 18:18

His sophomore year, Joseph finished as the fifth Viking and placed 10th overall to earn his first all-conference award at the 2008 CFVC championship meet.

Currently, he is a member of the Union Pines track and field team.

Along with being a standout prep athlete, Joseph has also excelled in the classroom and community. During his four years at Union Pines he has taken 12 honors classes and nine Advanced Placement (AP) courses. He is ranked fourth in his class, out of a total of 263 students, and currently carries a 4.67 weighted GPA.

Morris is extremely active with Habitat for Humanity. He is a two-year junior/senior mentor and is a member of both the National Honor Society and the Union Pines’ Prom Committee. His career aspiration is to become a neurosurgeon.
