The Moore County Community Foundation (MCCF) is offering two free workshops to interested nonprofit organizations to assist grant writers in submitting applications for funding.
On Thursday, March 29, a workshop will be held at 12:30 at the Weymouth Center for Arts and Humanities at 555 E. Connecticut Ave., Southern Pines, and a second workshop will be held at the Moore County Library in Carthage, 101 Saunders St., Carthage, at 3:30 p.m.
The workshops are held in advance of the MCCF grant application deadline for nonprofits to apply for funding, which becomes available on April 1. The purpose of the workshop is to explain the application, the grants cycle, and to answer questions from the nonprofit representatives.
This is the first year the Moore County Community Foundation has offered online grant applications. Since its establishment in 1993, the Moore County Community Fund has made grants to organizations that support human services, education, arts, religion, civic affairs, and the conservation and preservation of historical, cultural and environmental resources. The John W. Roffe and Marjorie A. Roffe Endowment supports health needs of Moore County.
"These free workshops are another example of the support our board of directors gives to the nonprofits that are working so hard in Moore County," says Hugh Bingham, board chairman of the Moore County Community Foundation. "We want to help the nonprofits in our county understand the grant application and turn in complete descriptions of their projects, so our board can give them thoughtful consideration."
Space is limited and participants are urged to call Mary Anne Howard at the North Carolina Community Foundation at (800) 201-9533; her direct line is (919) 256-6924 or e-mail her at mhoward@nccommunityfoundation.org to reserve a seat at either workshop.
The Moore County Community Foundation is an affiliate of the North Carolina Community Foundation.
The NCCF is the single statewide community foundation serving North Carolina and has made nearly $63 million in grants since its inception in 1988. With more than $121 million in assets, the NCCF sustains over 1,000 endowments established to provide long-term support of a broad range of community needs, nonprofit organizations, institutions and scholarships. The NCCF partners with 60 affiliate foundations to provide local resource allocation and community assistance in 66 counties across the state. An important component of the NCCF's mission is to ensure that rural philanthropy has a voice at local, regional and national levels. For more information, visit www.nccommunityfoundation.org.
