Keep Moore County Beautiful Inc. and the town of Southern Pines are sponsoring a mixed paper recycling drive from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, March 19, at the Boys and Girls Club, 160 Memorial Park Court, Southern Pines.

The event can be accessed by either Memorial Park Court or Service Road.

Acceptable items include any type of paper, flattened boxes, paper grocery bags, telephone books, paperback books, junk mail, magazines, catalogs, shredded paper, flattened corrugated cardboard, office paper and newspapers.

"Please note that any type of personal documents should be shredded at home prior to bringing to this event," says Joan Neal, executive director of KMCB.

Also accepted are any type of household and rechargeable batteries, inkjet cartridges, cameras, cell phones, diskettes, CDs, DVDs and laptops.

Guest Night

The Golf Capital Chorus will hold an open house guest night Monday, March 21, at 7 p.m. at the Community Presbyterian Church in Pinehurst.

Anyone interested in learning more about the group's activities is welcome.

Benefit Supper

Culdee Presbyterian Church will sponsor a benefit supper Saturday, March 19, from 4 to 7:30 p.m. to assist Lynn McKenzie with his medical expenses. The menu will include spaghetti, salad, tea and dessert. The church is located at 916 N.C. 73, in the Eastwood community.

Taste of the Town

A sell-out event every single year, the Women of Seven Lakes' Taste of the Town is moving to a new and larger location that will allow partygoers plenty of space to mingle and sit while enjoying selections from 17 popular local restaurants.

The Taste of the Town will be held Monday, March 28, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Crawford Center at West End Presbyterian Church. All proceeds will benefit the West End UMC Food Pantry.

Participating restaurants include Corfu Taverna, Nina's Classic Cuisine, Hickory Tavern, Olive Garden, Outback Steakhouse, Seven Lakes Snack Shack, Kraz Bakery, Table on the Green, Thai Basil, Penick Village Restaurant, Seven Lakes Country Club, Lady Bedford's Tea Parlour, Dog Nation Grill, Cold Stone Creamery, Little River Golf & Resort, Starbucks, Brick Oven Bistro and Sandhills Winery.

Young Musicians' Festival

The annual Young Musicians Festival will take place on Saturday, March 19, and Sunday, March 20.

On Saturday, March 19, the adjudication phase will take place with John Shannon, adjudicator. Ranging in grades four through 12, students will perform on piano, voice, guitar, violin or cello.

Finalists in Division One, Division Two, Division Three or the newly added Advanced Division will be invited to perform in a concert in the Great Room at Weymouth on Sunday, March 20.

Admission is free.

Fundraiser

A fundraiser to benefit the Pinebluff Veterans Memorial will be held Saturday,March 19, at 110 North Pecan St., Pinebluff.

Chicken and dumplings with green beans, corn, roll and tea or coffee will be available from 11 to 2 p.m. and 5 to 7 p.m. for $6 per plate.

Tickets are on sale at the town hall, 325 E. Baltimore Ave.

A bake sale and raffle will also be held.
