Scott McCreery might have broken out from the pack on "American Idol."

McCreery, who is the grandson of Aberdeen residents Bill and Paquita McCreery, heard Idol judge Randy Jackson proclaim, "If it ain't broke, don't even think about fixing it. This is exactly where you belong. Don't change it; don't change it," after the 17-year-old from Garner nailed Garth Brooks' "The River" in Tuesday's edition of the long-running show.

Steven Tyler, another Idol judge, told McCreery that "you did the Garth justice," while Jennifer Lopez said to McCreery that "I saw you open up as a performer."

McCreery is one of 13 contestants left in the show. All 13 performed last night.

Tonight, the results of the public's vote will be revealed. The show starts at 8 p.m. on Fox network.

Scotty is a great singer! He has the looks and the personality to go very far in this field. I hope he records soon so I can buy it and listen to it all the time! I will always vote for him on American Idol.
