Peter Ross Stilwell, formerly director of business development and special events for Pinehurst Resort, is partnering with his wife, Norma Pittman Stilwell, in a new venture.
The company, Tarheel Communications Solutions, will focus on business development, special events, marketing and public relations.
They have also announced that Tarheel Communications Solutions will serve as the agency of record for Pinehurst Resort as it relates to business development and special events. They also are the agency of record for the U.S. Kids Golf Foundation, with responsibilities for business development and public relations.
With combined work experience of more than 40 years, the Stilwells bring related experiences to their new company.
Peter has been in the golf/hospitality industry for many years, serving as executive director of the PGA World Golf Hall of Fame in Pinehurst and tournament director with the PGA of America for the Grand Slam of Golf and the Senior PGA Championship.
In his combined 20 years at Pinehurst, he has vast sales and marketing understanding and developed the financially successful resort relationships with the U.S. Kids Golf World Championships, Acura, Pepsi and many others. He has served for numerous years on the boards of Communities In Schools, FirstHealth of the Carolinas and American Airlines and is past chairman of the local Convention and Visitors Bureau board.
Norma's previous business experience includes advertising, communications director for the N.C. League of Savings Institutions, special events and promotions for Keep N.C. Beautiful and freelance writing. She was a member of former Gov. Jim Hunt's press office staff and was public relations director for the Pinehurst Resort.
She has also been an active volunteer with the Moore County public schools for more than 10 years.
"We have been talking about starting our own company for a long time," Peter Stilwell said. "Norma and I are pleased to reach out to our considerable industry contacts to make this business successful. We are really looking forward to growing our company."

Central Park Names
Property Manager
Central Park South, a 31,000-square-foot retail and office complex at N.C. 211, Murdocksville Road and Olmsted Boulevard in Pinehurst, has named the Kuester Cos. to provide leasing and property management services.
Shaw Kuester, vice president of the Kuester Cos., will be the project manager for Central Park South and provide full leasing and property management services.
He has been with Kuester Cos. since 1999 and holds his brokerage license in both North and South Carolina. He oversees all facets within the commercial group, to include multi-family and commercial management, as well as leasing and brokerage. He can be reached at (704) 996-9996.
"We are most pleased to be involved in this project and the exciting rebranding," Kuester said. "Several leases are under consideration for 2011 occupancies, and the out parcel at the corner of Murdocksville Road and Olmsted Park is available for development and additional parking."
The Delta Interests, a family investment in Greenville, S.C., also acquired the Wells Fargo (Wachovia) Branch Bank at Central Park Road and N.C. 211.
Beckel Joins
AES Lending
Kelli Beckel has joined AES Lending, an AES managed company, as a mortgage consultant.
A native of Moore County, Beckel has more than 11 years of experience in the mortgage industry. > She brings a wealth of knowledge, experience and leadership to the AES team, a news release said. >As the wife of an active-duty military member, Beckel said she recognizes the importance of offering loans that meet the needs of today's military families.
She is very experienced with VA, USDA, FHA and Fannie and Freddie mortgage programs. She said she is committed to her clients' success and is dedicated to making the mortgage process as simple and stress-free as possible for her clients.
Beckel and her husband reside in Vass with their two dogs.
AES Lending is a retail mortgage company and a branch of Arrington, Edgar & Shiel (AES), headquartered in Cary, with branches in Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill, Asheboro and Southern Pines.
