PC Golf Wins Second SEC Match

In pursuit of its 12th league title in a row, the Pinecrest boys’ golf team won its second Southeastern Conference match of the season at National Golf Club Monday afternoon.
Dylan Harris shot a round of 75 to share medalist honors with Chris Jackson, of Hoke County, as the Patriots posted a team score of 307. Nick Thompson and Josh Stockwell each shot a 77 and Zach Martin came in at 78 to complete the Patriot team result. The other team scores were Purnell Swett, 333, Richmond Senior, 340, Scotland County, 347, Lumberton, 357 and Hoke, 398.
In last Thursday’s conference and season opener at Pinehurst No. 6, Harris was the medalist with a 71 as the Patriots finished 24 strokes in front of second place Richmond. The other players making up the winning team score of 310 were Thompson, 78, Sam Kosich, 79 and Stockwell, 82.
A busy five days for Coach Sandy Sackmann’s squad also included Friday’s 12th annual Keith Hills Invitational in Buie’s Creek. Thompson led the Pats with a 1-over par round of 73 as they finished in a tie for third place.
Also contributing to the Patriot team score were Kosich, 77, Alex Meade, 78 and Harris, 79. Leesville Road (290) came in first behind a 5-under performance by medalist Carter Jenkins. Clayton (302), Pinecrest (307), Page (307), Green Hope (309) and Wakefield (309) were the next five.
The Patriots are scheduled to compete in the High School Elite Tournament at Anderson Creek on Friday. Scotch Meadows will be the site of next Monday’s conference match.
