Is there some way to donate funds to help pay for his vet bills and maybe enable him to stay kenneled until his owner his found, rather than being sent to animal control?

How very sad for him that he seems to have such an irresponsible owner. No ID !

Save the dog! Don't put him down just yet! He has a right to live, poor thing!

Some parts of this article are not correct!! I have tried to contact the number listed and have left a message with no return call. I have also called animal control and are unaware of any of this. They only put put animals down when there is bite potential and/or overcrowding. If this dog is as loveable as the auricle reads then he should be fine even if he is sent to Animal Control for adoption. Ans as always....consider the source.

I spoke to Linden from the Haven earlier and efforts are being made to contact the person currently in possession of the dog. The dog is not at this time at animal control.

Update: The dog is still receiving veterinary care and has offers of help from a number of people including The Haven and Moore Humane Society.

According to The Haven's FB Site:
Update on Lab/Mix. He did not go to the shelter today due to the amazing response from people who were willing to help. Animal Advocates of Moore County have offered to accept responsibility for him until he is adoptable. His medical expenses will be approximately $500. He is currently at the Carthage Animal Hospital.
