The Cat Who Would Be King

Rey

Two weeks ago we opened The Pilot paper to find your “Pet of the Week” photo and fell in love with the kitten you had posted. We had adopted another cat in December and had thought of getting a companion for her to play with.

The shelter had called him Timber, and we have renamed him Rey (Spanish for King). After only 1 1/2 days of growling, his sister, Reina (Spanish for Queen), figured out that he wasn’t that bad after all (for a boy), and they started licking each other and getting along as if they had always known each other.

As you can see, he has gotten comfortable and now owns us and the house. Thank you for bringing us together!

This is such a wonderful letter about Timber. I am a volunteer at the Moore Humane Society and I remember the day Timber was brought to us. The story goes like this.. Moore Humane received a call from a lady who managed to get Timber away from two dogs that had a hold of him. She brought him right up to the shelter. He was a tiny(only 7-8 weeks old) wet ball of fur. He was not injured but clearly traumatized. When he lifted his head and looked straight into our eyes, we know that this kitten was special. We knew that he was a survivor and a true warrior. He was immediately placed into foster care along with another kitten his age. He did extremely well in is foster home and ruled the kingdom there. I find it very appropriate that his forever momma and daddy would name him Rey(king). Bless you Mr. & Mrs. Newton for giving Rey that second chance and allowing him to rule!
