For the month of June, the Arts Council of Moore County presents a special art exhibit at Campbell House Galleries called “Art Anonymous Revealed.”
The show opens Friday, June 3, with a reception to meet the artists from 6 to 8 p.m. The reception is free and open to the public. The exhibit will be on display through June 30, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., weekdays. The Campbell House Galleries are located at 482 E. Connecticut Ave. in Southern Pines.
One year ago, the Arts Council presented a unique and popular fundraiser called “Art Anonymous.” For the event, 158 artists responded to the “call to artists” for donations of original “mini masterpieces” that were limited to the size of 5 by 7 inches.
“Hundreds were donated and filled the galleries with one of our most diverse exhibits ever,” says Chris Dunn, executive director. “In keeping with the Arts Council’s mission to promote artists and their original art, we also asked North Carolina artist William Mangum to choose his favorite artists from Art Anonymous based solely on their donated work.
“Art Anonymous Revealed” will showcase the artists he chose and will be the first juried art exhibit at Campbell House Galleries in a long time.
The artists chosen for “Art Anonymous Revealed” include Michelle Allee, of Pass Christian, Miss.; Kathy Barringer, of Vass; Edward L. Baxter, of Raleigh; Miriam Stack Chu, of Southern Pines; Judith Collins, of Raleigh; Waltraut Desa, of Fayetteville; Gerald Dukes, of Pittsboro; Ray Elmore, of Greenville; Don Fales, of Biscoe; Sharon Ferguson, of West End; Kathy Hopwood, of Hillsborough; Betsey MacDonald, of Clayville, R.I.; Meridith Martens, of Southern Pines; Bill Matthews, of Southern Pines; Irene McFarland, of Southern Pines; Paula Montgomery, of Pinehurst; Suzy Morgan, of Southern Pines; David Novak, of Matthews; Beth Roy, of Vass; Promila Sen, of Chapel Hill; Fran Soboeiro, of Pinehurst; Pamela Swarbrick, of Pinehurst; Lezlie Woods-Jacobs, of Maxton; and Kim Young, of Raleigh.
