With work on the Old Town and Lake Pinehurst sewer rehabilitation project scheduled to begin in mid-August, Moore County has planned two public information sessions to help Pinehurst residents understand the effort.

Because of the extensive nature of the project, two separate public information sessions are planned, according to a notice from the county administration. Both will be held in the conference room at Pinehurst Village Hall at 395 Magnolia Road, Pinehurst.

The first will cover work in the Old Town area and will be held at 7 p.m. Aug. 3. The second, for work in the Lake Pinehurst area, will be held at 7 p.m. Aug. 4.

"Residents are encouraged to attend to discuss the project and ask questions," a county news release said. "While the project may require some roads to be closed to through traffic, access to homes for local traffic will be maintained."

Also during the time that work is being performed, water service may be interrupted to residences, the county said. Limiting water usage will assist the construction crews, according to the news release.

Construction is expected to continue until November 2012.

The purpose of the project is to repair or replace deteriorated sewer mains, which require frequent maintenance and provide unreliable service to customers, the county said. Work will be concentrated in the Old Town area and along the shoreline of Lake Pinehurst.
