Israel Receives German Band Scholarship

The Amy Elizabeth German Memorial Band Scholarship has been awarded to Union Pines High School graduate Aaron McKellar Israel.

Israel is the 16th recipient of this award. He will be attending UNC Pembroke this fall in the music education program.

Israel was an active member of the Union Pines Band for all four years of high school and has received the Wind Ensemble Outstanding Percussion award for 2010-2011 and the Senior Service award for the same year.

He plays the bass drum.

Israel was in concert, symphonic, and wind ensemble bands and was drum line captain for 2010-2011.

Israel participated in the National Independence Day Parade with the Union Pines Band last year as well as at the Festival of Music, in Chicago, and Boston. He also participated in the Union Pines Jazz Band and Pep Band.

Israel is the son of Donna Faulkner and Thomas M. Israel. He has a sister, Lauren Elaine Israel.

The Amy Elizabeth German Band Memorial Scholarship Trust was established by family and friends in memory of Amy German, a member of the class of 1996 and the 1995-1996 Union Pines Marching and Concert bands.
