A repaving/roadway construction project is currently taking place on West Morganton Road in Southern Pines between U.S. 1 and Broad Street.

This section of Morganton Road is open but alternating closures both eastbound and westbound are taking place leaving only one lane of traffic open.

The Southern Pines Police Department is asking that the public avoid this area and choose an alternate route to avoid the anticipated delays.

In the event motorists do need to travel in this construction area they are advised to slow down, exercise caution, be watchful of workers and construction vehicles as well as remaining patient during any delay.
