Keep Moore County Beautiful, Inc. is sponsoring a mixed paper recycling drive Saturday, July 9, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Kangaroo Station in the Fresh Market Shopping Center, Southern Pines.
Acceptable items include anything that is paper: flattened boxes, paper grocery bags, telephone books, paperback books, junk mail, magazines, catalogs, shredded paper, flattened corrugated cardboard, office paper and newspapers.
Also accepted are any type of household and rechargeable batteries, inkjet cartridges, cameras, cell phones, diskettes, CDs, DVDs and laptop computers.

Sandhills Community College will hold the second of its summer outdoor jazz band concerts Monday, July 11, at 6:30 p.m. on the Boyd Library Green.

‘Turtle Talk’
“Turtle Talk” will be presented at 3 p.m. Sunday, July 10, at Weymouth Woods Sandhills Nature Preserve.
“Escape the heat and come celebrate the ‘Year of the Turtle’ by attending this program on our shelled critters of the Sandhills,” says a spokesman. “Learn to recognize different species, hear some fun facts and hold empty turtle shells. This program is fun for all ages.”
