Storms moving through the area Monday evening may have hampered some Fourth of July festivities, but the fireworks show went on despite the rain at Aberdeen Lake Park, where many spectators didn't mind getting wet to see the annual event.

Everything was still held in Pinehurst and it was a great Fireworks Display! The storm forced all the inflatibles, etc. to close up but it was a good night despite the weather!

I am surprised anyone was still around to watch at all - what with the thunder and lightning! I can't believe they actually had the fireworks last night. I would have thought they would have asked people to head for cover....instead of sitting/standing in an open field during a lightning storm.

That's exactly what they did, told people the storm was coming, to take shelter in their vehicles or the barns and that the show would still go on as long as the severe weather had passed.
