Chance to Win an 'American Idol' Audition

Calling all local singers and future Scotty McCreerys, FOX 50 is looking for the next "American Idol."
FOX 50 (WRAZ-TV) will hold a one-day audition Saturday, July 9, at Cary Towne Center, giving local singers the chance to win a guaranteed audition with the producers of "American Idol."
Past "American Idol" finalists and winners from North Carolina include: Clay Aiken (runner-up Season 2), Fantasia Barrino (winner, Season 3), Bucky Covington (eighth place, Season 5), Kellie Pickler (fifth place, Season 5), Chris Daughtry (fourth place, Season 5), Anoop Desai (sixth place, Season 8) and Scotty McCreery (winner, Season 10)
Individual singers must be at least 15 and not over 28 years old, as of June 26, and a legal, permanent resident of one of the following North Carolina counties: Chatham, Cumberland, Durham, Edgecombe, Franklin, Granville, Halifax, Harnett, Hoke, Johnston, Lee, Moore, Nash, Northampton, Orange, Person, Sampson, Vance, Wake, Warren, Wayne or Wilson.
To audition, local singers must meet all eligibility requirements, have proper I.D. and download the official rules and local registration form, which can only be found at www.FOX50.com. These forms must be completely filled out at the time of registration. Come prepared because staff will not have additional forms on-site.
Registration starts at 9 a.m. between Talbots and Dillard's on the Walnut Street side of the mall. Parking is available in the lot adjacent to Harris Teeter. Hopefuls may begin lining up at 6 a.m. (no camping out is allowed).
One local singer will win a trip to Charleston, S.C., for a guaranteed audition with the producers of "American Idol."
"American Idol" returns in January.
