Whispering Pines: The Men’s Golf Association played on Jan. 19 in a two best balls of the foursome. The results – Dick Hammond, Pat O’Malley, Jim O’Malley, Tommy Nacca, 123; Art Woodward, Peter Jones, Cody Talcot, Blind Draw, 129; Joe Merry, Tom Murphy, Chuck Barth, Ken Gagnon, 130.

Whispering Woods: The Men’s Golf Association played in threesomes on Jan. 17 and the format was two low net balls on the front nine, one low net on the back nine, with one hole unavailable on each nine. The winners: Charlie Frick, Bud Henty and Tony Rodriquez, tied at 82, with Al Gaeta, Tom Lyon and Fred Miller.

On Jan. 19 the game was a team event with one low gross and one low net needed for scoring. The winners: Bob Carlson, Bill Woodruff, Ken Pomeroy, Bud Henty, 138; Bill Anderson, Rich Moran, Tom Lyon, Blind Draw, 140.

Pinewild: The Men’s Golf Association played on Jan. 6 on the Magnolia Course in team and Individual contests. The format was two best balls on each hole with the following winners. Team: Harold Bell, Walt Kaczynski, Ted Kenny and Joseph Owen at 25 under par. Ted Davison, Bill Graning, David Gray and Bob Blandford at 20 under par. One best ball on holes No. 1 to No. 6 and holes No. 13 to No. 18, with two best balls on holes No. 7 and No. 17. The winners: First – Jean Sundstrom, Aurel Timken, Dee Bilodeau, Gay Griffith, 87. Second – Roe Lyons, Lisa Carothers, Barbara Raugh, Jo Rolman, 88. Third – Sandy Edens, Jackie Meyer, Gail Ford, Franny Stewart, 89 (MOC). Fourth – June Eichele, Chris Lawn, Darya Glass, Mary Pappas, 89 (MOC).

On Jan. 8 the Women’s Golf Association played on Course No. 5 in a Happy 2011 Tournament. The winners: Joyce McWane, Gay Padgett, Shirley Potter, Pat Milligan, 61; Jackie Meyer, Sandy Edens, Donna Tanner, 69 (MOC); Jane Wilkinson, Rhonda Brooks, Dianne Yelovich, Tonya Brown, 69 (MOC). Jane Wilkinson and Dianne Yelovich tied at 84 to win low gross honors.

On Jan. 27 the Women’s Golf Association played a “four on four” contest. Two best balls on holes beginning with letters FOUR were needed for scoring. The winners: Sue Wright, Deborah Groom, Carole Wright, Diane Zalewski, 76; Tonya Brown, Gloria Sectish, Sara Sutton, Jane Wilkinson, 80; Rita Clayton, Barbara Raugh, Jeanne Mager, Carol Hannah, 81. Gloria Sectish won low gross with 86.

The Men’s Golf Association played on Jan. 4 and 5 in a two best ball Nassau tournament on Course No. 5. On Jan. 5 the Men’s Golf Association played a Nassau tournament and the format was one best ball on odd holes and two best balls on even holes. Front nine: Bob McNally, John Wiatrak, Robert Hoffman, Gale Smith, 41. Back nine: Doug Rogers, James Stoner, Mark McFarland, Mike Singleton, 46.
