As the official handler of Punxsutawney Phil, I would like to say that although resting, Phil took a few minutes to read Jim Dodson’s column (Jan. 9) and was happy to see he has another fan out there in the world of media.

As for Dodson’s wife, it is important to note that Phil is not a winter guy — he enjoys both winter and spring. After all, winter is a time to sleep 20-24 hours a day, but spring is mating season! Both have advantages and disadvantages that may be left unsaid at this point. Regardless, Phil’s prediction is coming soon.
