The North Moore girls' basketball team picked up a huge Yadkin Valley Conference road win at Chatham Central Tuesday night.

The Lady Bears knocked off the Lady Mustangs in Robbins earlier this season, but North Moore responded with an impressive 62-44 win Tuesday.

Tashonna Farmer led all scorers with 23 points. Katelyn Sheffield had 15. Eight different players found the score book for North Moore.

Coach Sammy McNeill said he couldn't remember the last time the girls had beaten Chatham Central, but estimated it has been at least nine years. He said his team was firing on all cylinders, especially on the defensive end.

"Great team effort and our defense was incredible," he said by e-mail Wednesday morning. "I had told them after the South Stanly game that the difference between a good team and a great team is often one step. I hope we took that step last night."

The win improves the girls to 11-5 on the season and 7-2 in the YVC. They travel to North Rowan Thursday and South Davidson on Friday.
