The Vass Lions Club held its annual Christmas banquet on Dec. 16.

President Carl Giambelluca called the meeting to order, and Bill McClelland led the pledge of allegiance.

Giambelluca presented Tyler Loving with a special award. Tyler, a sixth-grade student at Crain’s Creek Middle School, is the local winner of the Peace Poster contests sponsored by the Lions Club International.

Giambelluca recognized members who had worked hard on the club’s projects this year. Selected for special recognition were George Sandy and community member Jim McCleneghen for their outstanding effort on behalf of the reverse raffle, the club’s major fundraiser.

Terry Kerr announced the schedule for assembling more than 200 Christmas food baskets that were delivered to local families on Dec. 24.
