The cause of water on Woods Road in Pinehurst was not due to a broken water line, but rather a fire hydrant that was struck by a contractor's vehicle, according to Moore County Public Works.

"It was a man-made accident," said Ben Vaughn, Moore County Public Works' utility operations manager in a phone message Friday afternoon.

The incident happened at approximately 10:35 a.m. Work crews were on scene shortly after.

..wonder if the person or their insurance will be billed for the lost water - looks like a lot of water was lost and that could be a sizeable amount of money to the utility - along with the cost to repair the hydrant
