The Sandhills Optimist Club is sponsoring the Little Patriots Speed and Agility Clinics on Tuesdays and Thursdays from Jan. 18 through March 24.

There will be 20 sessions running from 6 to 7 p.m. at Pinecrest High School for students enrolled in the first through eighth grades. They will be led by head football coach Chris Metzger, his staff and area guest coaches.

The mission of the program is to provide participants with positive instruction in several areas of athletic improvement, including eating habits, study habits, running, stretching and overall fitness for life. The clinics are a combination of speed, agility and plyometric training. All drills and sessions will be conducted in groups based on age.

Camp attire is shorts, T-shirts, athletic socks and running shoes.

Campers need to bring plenty of water. Parents of participants should drop their child off at the stadium or in the case of inclement weather, the gym.

The cost is $190 for the entire clinic or $10 per session. Checks are to be made payable to Sandhills Optimist Club.

For more information, contact coach Metzger at (239) 248-0808 or cmetzger@mcs.k12.nc.us.

No child will be excluded because of financial hardship.
