The Sandhills Community College basketball team (23-6, 7-1 Region 10), currently ranked 10th in NJCAA Division III, will enter this weekend’s Region X/XVII tournament as the top seed.

On the strength of a 7-1 Region 10 slate, the Flyers finished tied for the regular season crown. A coin flip awarded SCC the top seed over Davidson County Community College.

The tournament begins Friday at Catawba Valley Community College in Hickory, and the championship game will be played Sunday at 2 p.m.

Six teams are vying for the title, which also grants the winner a spot in the district championship game the following Saturday. Below are the pairings:

Friday, Feb. 25

5 p.m. — No. 4 Caldwell CC&TI vs. No. 5 Central Carolina CC

7:30 p.m. — No. 3 Wytheville CC vs. No. 6 Oxford College

Saturday, Feb. 26 (Semifinals)

2 p.m. — No. 1 SCC vs. Caldwell/Central Winner

4:30 p.m. — No. 2 Davidson County vs. Wytheville/Oxford Winner

Sunday, Feb. 27 (Championship)

2 p.m. — Semifinal Winners
