Southern Pines police have arrested a second suspect in connection with an armed robbery at a restaurant.

Dennis Shaquille Ross, 20, of Pinebluff, has been charged with two counts of robbery with a dangerous weapon. Police said Ross was involved in an armed robbery at Dickey’s Barbecue Pit, 10564 U.S. 15-501, that happened Nov. 26, 2010.

He was taken into custody on Wednesday at Brookside apartments without incident. He was jailed under a $100,000 secured bond, pending a March 16 hearing in District Court.

On Feb. 5, Southern Pines police arrested Matthew Owens, 17, of Aberdeen, after a brief chase with patrol officers near Rothney Avenue in Southern Pines. Owens is facing two charges of robbery with a dangerous weapon and one count of resist, delay or obstruct a public officer.

He was jailed, with secured bond set at $11,000, pending a March 16 hearing in District Court.

A Moore County grand jury indicted both suspects in the case.

Seems like Brookside Apartments are being mentioned frequently in these "arrest made" articles.

"Owens is facing two charges of robbery with a dangerous weapon and one count of resist, delay or obstruct a public officer.

Ok, so Owens got 2 robbery w/weapon charges and a resist charge, as well as a bond set at 11-large.

Meanwhile, the guy from Eagle Springs (Kenneth Allen Sheffield) was busted for merely 12 prescription pills and got TEN felony counts against against him with bail set at $75,000. http://www.thepilot.com/news/2011/feb...

10 felonies is much worse than 2 felonies.....what if those 10 pills made it to 10 different people, all ten could have got a slight illegal buzz. The armed robber probably only affected a couple of people and nobody got a buzz! The poor guy was just feeding his family!
