The Linden Garden Club of Pinewild held its first meeting of 2011 on Thursday, Jan. 20. President Kathryn Talton gave an opening address and greeted the members and guests.

Vice President Joan Power introduced the program for the day, "Capturing the Beauty of Flowers in Art."

Three talented Pinehurst artists, Terri Birkhauser, Margo Matarese and Martha Tournas, exhibited a selection of their excellent paintings in both watercolor and oil. They each described to the members their individual techniques, inspiration and preferences when creating their art.

Following the program, Talton conducted the business meeting and committee chairpersons gave their reports. A luncheon, prepared by Pinewild Country Club's Chef Todd, followed the business meeting.

The next meeting will be held on Thursday, Feb. 17, at 10 a.m. at the Pinewild Clubhouse. The program will be on "How to Invite Bluebirds and Hummingbirds into Your Garden," given by Jon and Rebecca Davis, co-owners of Wild Birds Unlimited in Aberdeen.
