SP Police Charge Teen in Robbery

Southern Pines Police have arrested an Aberdeen teen and charged him in connection with a robbery at a restaurant in November.
Matthew Owens, 17, has been charged with two counts of robbery with a dangerous weapon and resist, delay and obstruct a public officer, according to a release from the Southern Pines Police.
The arrest stems from a robbery that occurred on Nov. 26, 2010 at Dickey’s Barbecue Pit, 10564 U.S. 15-501. The case was presented to the Grand Jury for Moore County and a True Bill of Indictment was returned. Owens was arrested after a brief chase with patrol officers in the Rothney Avenue area of Southern Pines, according to the release.
He appeared before a local magistrate and was remanded to the Moore County Jail under $11,000 secured bond pending a hearing on March 16 in Moore County District Court.
