What could be more special than creating a one-of-a-kind glass heart for your Valentine?

Or consider you and your Valentine creating glass hearts for each other? How romantic!

Just such an opportunity awaits Friday, Feb. 11, at STARworks Glass.

STARworks Glass Valentine's Open House will be held from 5 to 7:30 p.m.

A variety of Valentine gifts, including jewelry, hearts, paperweights, flower vases, specialty stemware and other decorative Valentine's items will be available for purchase.

Prices range from $10 to $100. A limited number of unique Valentine gifts will be offered in a silent auction.

For just $25, glassblowers will help participants create their own Valentine's heart or flower. Youth 12 and older can make flowers.

The glass art pieces take time to gradually cool to prevent cracking, so they will be available for pickup on Monday, Valentine's Day.

Flame-working demonstrations will be going on. The event is free, and refreshments will be served. The open house will be in the studios of STARworks Glass, located at the rear of STARworks Center for Creative Enterprise at 100 Russell Drive in Star.
