Has the Pilot on-line turned into TMZ? Must we see mug shot's and reports of every arrest in the local area?
Innocent until proven guilty apparently doesn't apply.

That's all that is reported anymore...Does this mean there is more crime or just nothing else to report........

Easy, prepackaged "stories" the Pilot can slap up on the front page to keep it "fresh." Of course, if anyone has Google alerts set up to notify them of local news in Southern Pines, etc. one might gain the impression we live in a high crime area thanks to an inbox full of crime stories.

We all should know from recent local events, black, white, green or red, harmless looking teenagers will Kill You! With the economy in the crapper, more people will be looking to steal and more people will be at home, to protect their safety and sanctity of their homes. Surely the rate of people taking up residence on the DarkSide, will increase....

These kids aren't breaking into homes because the economy is bad and they have bills to pay or food to put on the table!! They are breaking into homes to steal things and sell for drugs!! God forbid if arrests are being published in The Pilot, we wouldn't want to tarnish Pinehurst's reputation. So why don't we just sugar coat the issues this county has with crime....better yet, let's just sweep it under the rug! Those of you who don't have teenage kids and are oblivious to the crimes that are being comitted in this county in the name of drugs, open your eyes! It is a huge problem and it's going on everywhere, including in your backyards. Whether it be in Pinehurst, Aberdeen or Whispering Pines. Gated communities or not, it's there and let's not forget about the schools as well.

The Public Records section on this site list convictions, which is much more informative in regards to crime. Certainly not as salacious as the front page pictures in regards to local arrests, but then again, they're trying to sell paper's. Being tried in the court of public opinion is the modus operandi in today's society. Employer's are not allowed to consider "arrests" when making hiring decisions, wonder why that is?
I propose The Pilot create a special section: "Who Got Arrested This Week". The rest of us can focus on actual convictions by reading the Public Records section.

Just think, if we could do something about these drug dispensers maybe there would be less crime

Thank You The Pilot for publishing this story. Often he dont hear about crimes until months later after they are convicted, if they are. Perhaps some of you missed the firearms part. A teenager with stolen firearms and with drugs! I know this kids weren't rasied like this. their poor parents and families. Thank you Moore Co Dep. Great Job
