A Southern Pines man faces multiple charges in connection with recent break-ins, Southern Pines Police have said.

Kirk Vankoughnet, 30, was arrested and charged with three counts of felony breaking and entering, two counts of misdemeanor larceny, and single counts of felony larceny, misdemeanor possession of stolen goods and misdeneamor possesion of drug paraphernalia.

The arrest stems from an investigation by the SPPD patrol and investigation divisions into multiple business break-ins that occurred during the overnight hours Dec. 20 and 21.

The incidents were reported the morning of Dec. 21 when the business operators returned to work. Officers identified information leading to Vankoughnet’s residence, where an item stolen during the break-in recovered.

Additional items taken from businesses were found hidden nearby.

Vankoughnet was jailed on a $51,000 secured bond pending a hearing Jan. 4 in Moore County District Court.
