Falcons Claim Wins in Swim Meet

The O’Neal school started the swim season with a win for both the girls’ and boys’ teams. In their second meet of the season, the boys picked up a win, while the girls finished second in a tri-meet.
In a tri-meet held at O’Neal on Dec. 8, the Falcon boys finished first with 78 points, easily outdistancing Fayetteville Academy (40 points) and Grace Christian (14).
For the boys, Kevin Duffy placed first in the 200 and 500 freestyle, Patrick Wurzel finished first in the 100 backstroke and second in the 100 butterfly, while Eugene Zhang finished first in the 100 breaststroke and second in the 200 IM.
Additional points were provided by Jarred Jenkinson, who placed first in the 100 freestyle and second in the 50 freestyle, Carlos Field, who placed second in the 100 backstroke and third in the 200 IM, Landon Teschendorf, who placed second in the 100 breaststroke, Kyle McClelland, who placed second in the 200 freestyle and Nick Manning, who finished third in the 50 freestyle.
The relay team of Duffy, Wurzel, Zhang and Field won the 200 medley relay and the 200 freestyle relay. Jenkinson, Manning, Teschendorf and McClelland combined to win the 400 freestyle relay.
In the girls’ competition, Fayetteville Academy took first with 72 points, while the Falcons finished second with 48. Grace Christian had 17 points.
For the Falcons, McKenzie Cooper placed first in the 100 backstroke and second in the 200 freestyle, and Kendall Field finished second in the 200 IM and the 100 butterfly.
Kaleigh Teschendorf had a second-place finish in the 500 freestyle, Hunter Atkinson placed second in the 100 backstroke and third in the 100 freestyle, Emma Moore finished second in the 100 breaststroke and third in the 200 freestyle and the 100 breaststroke and Tatum Riley finished third in the 100 breaststroke.
Field, Cooper, Moore and Hunter Atkinson teamed up for a first-place finish in the 200 medley relay and a second in the 200 freestyle relay.
In the opening meet of the season, held Dec. 1 at O’Neal, both Falcon teams picked up wins over Village Christian.
For the Falcon girls, Field placed first in the 200 IM and the 100 butterfly, Cooper placed first in the 200 freestyle and the 100 backstroke.
Other firsts were turned in by Hunter Atkinson in the 50 free, Riley in the 100 freestyle, Beeson in the 500 freestyle and Moore in the 100 breaststroke. Wallace, Tatum, and Hunter also had second-place finishes.
For the Falcon boys, Duffy had two first-place finishes in the 200 free and the 100 butterfly, Zhang had two first-place finishes in the 200 IM and the 100 breaststroke, while Field had a first-place in the 500 freestyle and a second in the 200 IM.
Additional Falcon points were provided by Wurzel, who had two second-place finishes in the 200 freestyle and the 100 backstroke. Other second-place finishers were McClelland in the 100 butterfly and Teschendorf in the 100 freestyle.
