Trinity Christian Fellowship has purchased a 10-acre tract of land on Airport Road in Pinehurst to construct a new church facility.

The property was sold to Trinity by Meyer Brown Family Properties LLC on Nov. 4 and includes 500 feet of roadway frontage on the north side of Airport Road, just east of Midland Country Club and west of Pinehurst United Methodist Church.

"As a new church, we began with nothing but God's clear and powerful presence and our love for one another," said Dr. Al Hill, co-pastor. "Month after month, we have seen God's blessings poured out upon us like manna from heaven, meeting our needs and providing facilities to support our fellowship and expand our ministries. We look upon this property as our 'Promised Land,' the destination to which God is leading us. The coming year will be a time of prayerful preparation for Trinity to 'enter the land,' and possess it for the Lord. We are grateful to God, and to all those who made this purchase possible."

According to David Bias, chairman of the Interim Administrative Council, negotiations with the owners have been under way for several months.

"With the property now acquired and paid for, we can begin to formalize plans to construct a facility that will fit our current needs and future growth," he said. "We anticipate a large sanctuary, a large fellowship hall, a Christian education wing, an administrative wing, a memorial garden, and many other amenities that will aid us in our worship and service to Christ. While it is too early to project a time line for the new facilities, our planning activity is already moving at full speed."

Trinity's congregation and ministries have grown at a steady pace since the church was founded in April of this year.

In addition to two Sunday morning services, adult and children Sunday School classes, a midweek fellowship dinner that includes studies taught by the pastors, and a number of men's and women's Bible studies, there are many other ministries, including a military spouse support group, Wives of Warriors (WOW); American Heritage Girls Troop 0173; Cub Scout Pack 173; the Baker's Brigade, which comprises members who prepare meals for members needing help during a time of illness or grief; a cadre of 35 "Grammas and Grampas" who babysit children for WOW activities; international and local missionary activities; and many other outreach efforts.

"We are excited to see the number of visitors who come each week," said Bias. "There is an enthusiasm among our membership that is truly overwhelming. Members are looking for areas where they can serve, how they can help, and how they can reach out to the community."

Trinity currently leases space at The O'Neal School for Sunday worship services in the Marie Bradshaw Activities Center auditorium at 9:15 and 10:30 a.m. each week, as well as classroom space for children, youth and adult Sunday School classes.

"We are very appreciative of the use of these wonderful facilities, and we also owe a debt of gratitude to Sen. Harris Blake for accommodating our administrative, ministry and fellowship space needs at his Carter Road complex near the intersection of N.C. 5 and Monticello Road in Pinehurst," said Bias.
