Others Need Jobs Too

Barack Obama has been president for three years, and almost every day of those years I have heard him say how he is toiling to create jobs, jobs, jobs, to help the working people of this country.

A great deal of taxpayers’ money and teleprompter time has been given to “his” working people, who are waiting for those “shovel ready jobs,” which in the past were referred to as blue collar jobs.

Has anyone else noticed there has not been a word out of Obama about white collar “pencil ready jobs”?

They do exist and in greater numbers than the “shovel readys,” but not a word about them.

They, too, are working people, American people, losing their jobs. American people who are invisible to this president. Not a peep, not an utterance of concern, from this White House about white collar working Americans. “If they are cut, do they not also bleed?”

Gail, as soon as I read "teleprompter", your letter lost all credibility, as I knew whatever followed was just going to be right wing hate screeching. Our nation is facing serious challenges, and you can only screech about semantics in a speech?

And Proud Yankee would of given Gail's letter a Kudos if the bad word right wing hate screeching word "telepromter" hadn't been used? You are right that our Nation is facing serious challenges and about the only thing I have seen this administration do over the last three years is make scape goats of those making $250,000 or more against people who do not, for our debt woes. He promised us the Stimulus Bill would create Jobs, then admits it failed. He promised us he would help to heal the wounds and bond us, and then tell Republicans they can sit in the back of the bus. We have seen him call out and scrunitize Supreme Court Justices, and cops in Mass on National TV. He told us there would be transparency on the Health Care Bill and it would be shown on CSpan. In stead we had to put our ears to the doors of behind closed door sessions to write up the Bill. We have seen him bow down to foreign Kings and humiliate America in public. We have seen him on two occasions when we came close once again to being victims of terrorists attacks, take 3 days before he would address the nation on these two close calls. We have witnessed a President who, like no other president, has blaming the former administration for our ongoing recession for three years now. We have seen even the Democratic members of Congress reject Obama's budget, because it was "over the top". We witnessed a President send back a statue of Churchill to England because his father lived under colonial rule in Africa. What did sending the statue back, acheive from an American standpoint, by a man who is suppose to be our commander in chief? Diane

Hey Diane, never let a fact get in the way of a good story. The Churchill bust was on loan to "W" from Tony Blair and was removed from the Oval Office prior to Obama moving in. Obama, by the way, has a bust of Lincoln sitting in the spot the Churchill bust formerly occupied. I had to do a lot of searching to find reference to this on-line so I'm guessing your favorite news source must have recently dredged it up and put their usual spin on it. You folks are really stretching to find something to say.

Great article kuddos and mega dittos

According to the Daily Beast, JER, the bust was on loan to Bush and "it was intended as a symbol of transatlantic solidarity" after 9/11. It was offered to President Obama by President Bush and England did not ask for it's return after Bush left office. England wanted us to keep it. English troops were fighting side by side with our troops. This bust was a symbol of the unity between the two countries. It was insulting. One needn't be a scholar of history to know why he refused the statue. I'm sure if President Obama had wanted to keep the statue, he could of found room for President Lincoln's bust too in the Oval office. Where there's a will, there's a way. Diane

MikeNC: Diane, you lie.

1) "It was offered to President Obama". Not according to the Daily Beast article you reference.

2) "England wanted us to keep it." Not according to the Daily Beast article you reference. In fact, your referenced article says that the "average Briton will be unfazed by the busts return".

3) "It was insulting". Not according to the Daily Beast article you reference.

4) "One needn't be a scholar of history to know why he refused the statue." There is nothing in the Daily Beast article that even suggested that Obama was offered the bust. Yes, Diane, it was a bust, not a statue. For gods sake woman, you can't even get the facts that are spelled out in the article correct. Of course, I'm dealing with a woman who thinks the Russians are giving our astronauts a ride to the moon, so what can I expect. And as for the "needn't be a scholar" part, your inference is that Obama had a deep seated hatred for Churchill resulting from events that occurred in Kenya involving Obama's grandfather. There was absolutely nothing in the article to back up that lie. But Diane, please continue to spew lies as it keeps my heart rate and blood pressure from falling to dangerously low levels.

JER, you apparently can't read my comments right and choose not to. The portion from the DAILY BEAST I put in quotation marks. It's ridiculous for an adult to try and continue to respond to your posts. Diane

0

JER 1 year, 5 months ago

MikeNC (Diane): So you are now saying that the Daily Beast article only said that the bust of Churchill was "intended as a symbol of transatlantic solidarity" and the rest of your ranting was strictly your opinion. In other words, you agree that the article did NOT state that the bust was offered to Obama; that England did NOT want us to keep it; that it was NOT insulting; that there was NO deep, dark, mysterious past history that was the reason for all this garbage in the first place. So, in conclusion, if you make all these accusations in your post and now agree that none of them are accurate, does that not make you a liar? Do the "adult" thing here, Diane, and defend your statements.

So, in conclusion, if you make all these accusations in your post and now agree that none of them are accurate, does that not make you a liar?

Remember, JER: everything posted under MikeNC is a lie until proven otherwise. If either Mike or Diane were paying in cash, I'd still ask for two forms of ID and three references.

Boy, you got that right, Dusty.

JER, Try the UK Telegraph. Diane.

0

JER 1 year, 5 months ago

Usually, when you back Diane into a corner, big Mike will jump into the fray and defend her "honor". I smell some smoke coming from the direction of West End, so I guess he's working up a response right now. Can't wait to see how despicable he finds me this time.

0

dustyrhoades 1 year, 5 months ago

Mike defending anyone's "honor" is like Paris Hilton defending virginity.

0

dustyrhoades 1 year, 5 months ago

JER, Try the UK Telegraph. Diane.

Back to the old "you look up the cite to prove my BS allegation" dodge. Weak.

0

JER 1 year, 5 months ago

MikeNC (Diane): First, to correct you regarding the source you are invoking: It is called the Daily Telegraph, not the UK Telegraph. The Daily Telegraph is a conservative leaning publication. That publication was referenced in the Daily Beast article you referenced earlier. Here is what the Daily Beast article said regarding the removal of the Churchill bust from the Oval Office and having it replaced by a bust of Abraham Lincoln:

"But the British press, as is its wont, smells a snub. The (Daily) Telegraph speculated that British diplomats' pulse rates would soar, while the Times of London (another UK publication) wondered if a shadow had been cast over the special US-UK relationship. A spokesperson for the British Embassy, though, threw cold tea on the notion, pointing out British politician David Miliband was the first foreign minister to meet with US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton."

What all those words mean, Diane, is that the right wing conservative press attempted to stir up some hard feelings about the return of the bust when there were no hard feelings to start with.

Too Funny...Diane can handle lightweight America Haters like the two of you just fine with zero help from anyone. We both only laugh at your name calling ignorance and how we occupy a portion of your pea brains 24/7...Rent Free! How big has that MikeNC wall of yours grown today DR? I'm sure the Obama's do not insult anyone on purpose. When he gave Queen Elizabeth II an iPod with pictures; I'm sure that would not be considered insulting by the two of you either..What a gracious, important and well thought out gift to be presented to the Queen? I bet she treasures it and has it housed in some secure museum. There's scads of links concerning the returned bust of Churchill; but that is not what this is all about...Is it? Keep on making complete idiots of yourselves as it is very amusing....Mike

MikeNC: What "this" is about is exposing liars who spew incorrect and misleading facts in the hopes that some limp brained idiot (like the recent TAP) will buy into it. If we have a big backlog of MikeNC garbage, it's because the two of you are the purveyors of a lot of bull crap. You can keep spewing it and I'll keep on exposing the lies in it.

JER 9 minutes ago ..."Diane, I am now available to make a complete ass out of myself once again."

I had to tidy up your word useage a bit JER. Now it is completely accurate. You do not even have to provide a source document; as you do it with most every word you post as everyone here knows...Mike

How big has that MikeNC wall of yours grown today DR?

Readers, if you're not sure what Mike's babbling about, just click on his name. That links to his 'Wall", where I've posted the lies Mike and Diane have previously been caught telling. There are so many that I decided to create a repository for those times when they huffily say "what have I ever lied about?" as if we're all as brain damaged as they are and can't remember their constant prevarication.

JER, I'll let you do the honors with the latest one.

I knew I smelled the smoke...and here is big Mike, right on que.

That smell isn't smoke, JER.

Good idea Dusty...We have been around for a quite a while. We'll just let all the readers decide on who tells tales and which one of us twists the truth and manipulates and tries to trick the readers to believe your twisted ideology here in Moore County. Most likely your very next post on a different subject matter will have you twisting, lying and name calling once again. Let's face it; you just cannot help yourself and at your adult age...There is just no fix. Readers are so onto you and your little back slapping lap dog JER's baloney it's laughable. Their comments in this regard comes out in almost every thread here in the Pilot. Both of your credability ratings are in the cellar .....Mike

Sigh. If fervor mattered in the arena of ideas, Mike and Diane would be undefeated. But, facts and logic matter more. Do more research next time before you toss out junk.

And fer cryin' out loud, open separate accounts. It's not that hard.

Dueling blogs, and no hint from Dusty's army on the original issue. Shovel ready vs. pencil ready. This, btw, seems like just another verse from PrezBo’s hymnal on class warfare.

0

JimHeim 1 year, 5 months ago

Shovel ready vs. pencil ready? If Republicans weren't so frightened of the president, they might work with him to create all kinds of jobs. Sadly, they're just obstructing everything and millions of out-of-work Americans are paying the price.

0

JimHeim 1 year, 5 months ago

Obama has created more jobs in his first three years than Bush did in eight. The "no jobs" lie is pure Republican propaganda.

Dealing with GOP lies can be a full-time job in itself.

0

JimHeim 1 year, 5 months ago

justpassingby might be surprised to learn that writing bills is Congress' job and the president has no say on whether the doors are open or not. It's in the Constitution. You should read it sometime.

And are you referring to the bust of Churchill that Tony Blair loaned the White House following 9/11? Did you mean to suggest that we should refuse to return it to its rightful owners? Whatever happened to "thou shalt not steal?"

Do you any clue as what you're ever talking about?

0

0

AP, Yep. Facts are cool even if they have a liberal bias.

I dont give a flying fuck about a bust of winston churchill Jim, this article isnt about a fucking bust.

AP, you claimed that, "We witnessed a President send back a statue of Churchill to England because his father lived under colonial rule in Africa. What did sending the statue back, acheive from an American standpoint, by a man who is suppose to be our commander in chief? "

Are you now repudiating that asinine assertion?

Has THE PILOT changed it's rules about certain words and expressions we can use and not use?

0

JER 1 year, 5 months ago

justpassingby: Your comments 11 hours and 44 minutes ago: The reason I picked on the Churchill bust item in MikeNC's post was because it was a new lie that she had thrown out for consideration. All the other crap in her post has been hashed and rehashed ad nauseum and has been debunked over and over again. I saw the Churchill bust comments as a loose thread on a knitted sweater. When you start pulling on it, the whole sweater unravels. I'm pointing out a lie, which should make any reasonable person question the validity of the rest of her body of work.

0

JER 1 year, 5 months ago

There is a new person on here who needs to learn there is a time an a place for everything. The Pilot website is not the time or the place for using the words he used today. I encourage everyone on here to demand he apologise to all of us.
