The Union Pines volleyball team improved to 8-0 on the season with a three-set win over Douglas Byrd in league action Tuesday.

With a 25-7, 25-21, 25-17 victory the homestanding Vikings remained perfect on the season -- having yet to drop a set -- while moving to 1-0 in Cape Fear Valley Conference play.
Morgan Bridgers led Union with 12 assists, while Brittany Erickson had team-highs with eight kills and eight digs.
Zazil Porras turned in a strong effort off the bench finishing with five service winners, two aces, four assists and three kills, while Kelsey Troyer had four kills and three blocks.
Union Pines returns to action Thursday against Overhills in a CFVC clash at 6:30 p.m. in Cameron
