The Moore Philharmonic Orchestra (MPO) announces the beginning of its seventh year serving the students and community of Moore County.
What started as a small ensemble of local musicians continues to grow into an aspiring symphonic orchestra. The MPO announces openings for all instrumentalists and lovers of music.
The MPO is open to advancing students in grades eight-12 and college students as well as adults who wish to continue their pursuit of music performance. There are anticipated openings in all sections of the orchestra. The MPO is looking to increase the string section as well as enhance the brass and woodwind sections. All instruments are welcome to join. There will be open rehearsals on Thursdays in September from 6:30 to 8:15 p.m., starting Sept. 8.
In addition, the MPO will be forming a music guild of music lovers who need not perform. The Music Guild will be asked to help with fundraising, promotion and concert assistance.
The performance season this year will include appearances at the Festival of the Trees, the Pinehurst Resort, a winter concert, a spring concert and a concert in Montgomery County.
For more information on how to become involved, the MPO can be found on Facebook, at its website www.mporchestra.com, by emailing moorephilorch@aol.com, or leaving a message at (910) 944-3452.
"The MPO looks forward to continue to provide symphonic music to the Moore County community," says a spokesman.
