The Union Pines Volleyball team has yet to drop a set this season, as it improved to 5-0 with a three-set sweep versus Purnell Swett Tuesday (August 23rd) in Cameron. Action shot here was taken during Union Pines' 25-19, 25-21, 25-17 victory Monday (AUG 22). Photos by Philip Taylor.
"We are so pleased with our start to the season and we are determined to keep getting better," said Viking head coach Leslie Fish.
"Swett came out and played hard at our play, like we knew they would. In response to that, I am proud of the way my girls focused and the intensity level with which they played as a team."
Union Pines senior captain Crystal Hicks had 10 kills and five blocks, while her sister, sophomore Tiffany Hicks, finished with seven kills and eight blocks.
Leading the way with a match-high 26 assists for the Vikings was senior Morgan Bridgers, while junior Brittany Erickson had eight digs.
Next up for Union Pines is a Thursday trip to Mt. Gilead to take on West Montgomery in a nonconference rematch. The Vikes topped the Warriors Monday to earn a 25-19, 25-21, 25-17 victory.
