O'Neal Defeats Mustangs in Volleyball

The O’Neal School handed visiting intra-county rival North Moore a four-set loss Thursday.
The Falcons won the first two sets 25-19 and 25-17, then the Mustangs grabbed a 25-22 win in the third. The Falcons clinched the victory with a 25-17 win in the fourth set.
“Both teams played hard and put forth a ton of effort,” said Falcon coach Kendall Harper. “O’Neal’s strong points were communication and serving.”
Jackie Chamberlain leaded the team with 12 kills, followed by Katja Ehlers with six kills. Katja also leaded the team with seven service aces. Chamberlain had six aces, Claire Russell had five and Maeve Bartiss added four. Collen Toyfa had her first taste of a varsity game, adding two service aces and four kills.
O’Neal is now 3-1 overall.
In junior varsity action, O’Neal claimed the victory in two sets, winning 25-14 and 25-16. Teresa Doner served for nine points in a row at one point and Aubrey Thompson had eight consecutive service points at another point in the Falcons’ wins.
