Mr. and Mrs. Michael David Biddle

Sarah Hathaway Knowlton and Michael David Biddle, both of Cary, were married on June 4, 2011, in the gardens of the Rand-Bryan House in Garner. The Rev. Fred Thompson, of Southern Pines, officiated at the ceremony.

The reception, hosted by the bride’s parents, was held in the home and gardens of the Rand-Bryan House.

The bride is the daughter of Robin and Randy Foster, of Southern Pines, and Chris and Janet Knowlton, of Pinehurst. She is the granddaughter of the late Robert and Ann Adams, formerly of Toledo, Ohio, and the late Herbert and Martha Knowlton, formerly of Toledo, Ohio, and Pinehurst. The bride is a graduate of Pinecrest High School and of North Carolina State University, with a bachelor’s degree in mass communication. She is employed by SAS Institute in Cary.

The groom is the son of Bill and Becky Biddle, of Midlothian, Va., and the grandson of Dolores Biddle, of Estero, Fla., and the late William George Biddle Sr., and the late Mildred Virginia Gray, formerly of Coeburn, Va. The groom graduated from Midlothian High School in Midlothian, Va., and received a bachelor’s degree in mass communication, from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Va. He is employed by Curtis Media Group in Raleigh.

The bride was escorted by her father, Chris Knowlton. She wore a sweetheart neckline, white silk shantung ball gown. The strapless dress was accented with a coral sash secured at the waistline with a Swarovski crystal brooch. She also wore a fingertip white blusher veil. She carried a mixed bouquet of blizzard white roses and white hydrangeas.

Katie Greenfield, of Denver, was maid of honor. Kara Hand, of Cary, was the matron of honor. Nadia Biddle, sister-in-law of the groom, of Midlothian, Va., Jacque Knowlton, sister-in-law of the bride, of Knoxville, Tenn., Jill Osborne, of Raleigh, and Rhiannon Potter, of Morrisville, were bridesmaids. They wore strapless or Y-neck navy blue, knee-length dresses, accessorized with coral and silver beaded earrings and bracelet. They carried a bouquet of coral roses surrounded by blue hydrangeas.

Bill Biddle, father of the groom, of Midlothian, Va., and Billy Biddle, brother of the groom, of Midlothian, Va., were the best men. Trevor Cundiff, of Raleigh, Matt Knowlton, brother of the bride, of Knoxville, Tenn., Jess Singletary, of Raleigh, and Paul Wodjyla, of Raleigh, were groomsmen.

Macie Bradley, of Columbus, Ohio, and Morgan Featherstun, of Perrysburg, Ohio, cousins of the bride, were flower girls. They wore white tea-length dresses accented with a coral sash.

Katie Adams, cousin of the bride, of Delaplane, Va., and Lisa Menocal, cousin of the groom, of Atlanta, were readers.

Wedding music was provided by David Oh, principal cellist of the Raleigh Civic Symphony.

Sandra Reaves, of Garner, directed the wedding.

Following a wedding trip to St. Lucia, the couple reside in Cary.

The rehearsal dinner was hosted by the groom’s parents and held at Caffe Luna in downtown Raleigh.

Friends of the couple hosted a champagne toast and dessert engagement party at the West End Wine Bar in Chapel Hill.

A miscellaneous bridal shower was hosted by aunts of the bride, Sue Bostater and Cheryl Adams, cousins of the bride, Kim Featherstun and Shanon Bostater, and sister-in-law of the bride, Jacque Knowlton, at the home of the bride’s mother in Southern Pines.

A wedding shower and luncheon was hosted by aunts of the bride, Pam Johanssen, Jackie Knepper and Stephanie Rieck, at the Knepper home in Pinehurst.

An around-the-clock shower was hosted by sorority sisters and bridesmaids, Kara Hand, Jill Osborne and Rhiannon Potter, at the Potter home in Morrisville.
