The Southern Pines Police Department asks residents to report transient itinerant merchants that may be in Southern Pines.

On Monday, the Southern Pines Police Department received information that itinerant merchants are going door to door attempting to sell magazine subscriptions and soliciting donations.

In prior incidents investigated by the Southern Pines Police Department, these sales people did not have the proper permits to operate in Southern Pines.

The Southern Pines code of ordinances prohibits this type of solicitation without a valid business license. In the event these transient vendors are observed operating in Southern Pines, residents are asked to report this activity to the Southern Pines Police Department by calling 910-692-7031.
