Pinestock, a musical event featuring local entertainers, is scheduled from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday, April 30, at the corner of Bennett Street and New York Avenue in Southern Pines.
Spring Fling
The West End Elementary Spring Fling and Car, Truck and Motorcycle Show is scheduled for Saturday, April 30, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
There will be a 50/50 raffle, themed basket raffles, bake sale, snow cones, popcorn, hot dogs and much more.
Medicine Drop
If you didn’t get a chance to dispose of your old or unused medications at Operation Medicine Drop in March, there is another one Saturday, April 30, conducted by the Moore County Schools Company Police, Moore County Sheriff’s Office and other law enforcement agencies in Moore County, along with the Drug Enforcement Administration nationally. Dropoffs may be made from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at North Moore High School, Union Pines High School and Pinecrest High School.
Weekend Adoption
Area rescue groups will be at PetSmart, in Aberdeen, Saturday, April 30, and Sunday, May 1, as part of the National Spring Adoption event.
All pets for adoption have been spayed or neutered and are current on all inoculations, providing an affordable way to add a pet to your family. Animal Advocates of Moore County, The Haven — Friends for Life, Moore Humane, Sandhills Animal Rescue League and Scotland County Humane Society will be participating.
Plant Sale
The Pinehurst Garden Club Plant Sale will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 30, in the sand parking lot next to Given Memorial Library.
Geraniums, impatiens, vinca and begonias will be available as well as hanging baskets, herbs and a variety of other plants. Proceeds fund a Sandhills Community College scholarship and local beautification projects.

Holocaust Remembrance
Major Gen. Sidney Shachnow (U.S. Army ret.) will speak at 4 p.m. Sunday, May 1, at Temple Beth Shalom, as part of a free Holocaust Remebrance Day program.
The temple is located at the corner of Jackson Springs and Hoffman roads in Foxfire.

Spring Tag Sale
The Haven — Friends for Life is having a spring tag sale at Olmsted Village in Pinehurst Saturday, April 30, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
All proceeds go to the care of the pets waiting for adoption at The Haven.
‘Farm Fresh’
Diane Daniel will share the fruits of her coast-to-mountains exploration of the best farms, produce stands, farmers markets, wineries, orchards and more, in her book “Farm Fresh North Carolina,” Friday, April 29, at 4 p.m. at The Country Bookshop in Southern Pines
Daniel will be at the Moore County Farmers Market from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Saturday, April 30, at the Downtown Southern Pines Park, at the corner of New York Avenue and SE Broad St.
The market is open from 8 a.m. to noon each Saturday through October.
History Books
Nationally known historian and author Nathaniel Philbrick will be discussing his books at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 30, at Penick North Auditorium, Penick Village, 100 E. Rhode Island Ave. extension, Southern Pines. His latest book is “The Last Stand: Custer, Sitting Bull and the Battle of the Little Bighorn.”

North Moore Show
The North Moore theater department presents “Pride and Prejudice” at 7 p.m. Friday, April 29, and Saturday, April 30, at 7 p.m. The cost is $5 at the door.
‘Swingtime’
Moore OnStage presents ‘Swingtime,” a musical fundraiser, Friday, April 29, at 8 p.m. and Saturday, April 30, at 5 p.m. at the Sunrise Theater.

Tag Sale
The Residence Inn by Marriot is holding a tag sale for its annual “Spirit to Serve Our Community” day. The sale begins at 7 a.m., and 100 percent of the proceeds will go to the Bethany House.
There will be a bake and coffee sale and $5 raffle for a two-bedroom, two-bathroom suite for three nights – valued at $500.
