The Sandhills chapter of SCORE reminds all small business owners that the deadline for submitting entries for the $1,500 prize in the 2010 “Good to Great” contest is close of business Thursday, April 21.

All entries, in the form of a response of 500 words or less, should answer the question, “How can my business take advantage of $1,500 to make itself more successful?”

Entries should be e-mailed as a Microsoft Office compatible attachment to neelym@sandhills.edu.

The contest is jointly sponsored by the Moore County Chamber of Commerce and Sandhills SCORE. The contest winner will be notified by May 2 and a luncheon to honor the winner will be held May 19 during the annual Small Business Week.

Complete contest rules can be found at www.sandhillsscore.org and at www.moorecountychamber.com

Questions about the contest can be directed to Glenn Phelps at gphelps@nc.rr.com.

In addition to co-sponsoring the essay contest annually, the Sandhills SCORE Chapter provides assistance to small businesses in a variety ways, including free seminars on topics of interest to new and experienced business owners as well as free confidential counseling.

The chapter is currently expanding these activities and is seeking additional motivated volunteers. More information on SCORE’s activities can be found at the Sandhills SCORE website, www.sandhillsscore.org.
