Undercover Investigation Leads to Drug Charges Against Women

Three women face several drug charges after being arrested Tuesday for selling prescription pills.
Barbara King Barnes, 52, of South Gaines St., Southern Pines, Patricia Yvonne Nixon, 42, North Page St., Southern Pines, and Mary Alice King, 55, of King Lane, Pinebluff, were arrested by detectives with the Moore County Sheriff's Office after an undercover cover operation, according to a press release.
During the investigation, detectives purchased 120 hydrocodone pills. The purchase took place March 15, according to the release. The street value of the pills was $720.
Barnes was charged with three counts of conspiracy to traffic opium, conspiracy to sell/deliver schedule III ( hydrocodone) and possession with intent to sell deliver schedule III (hydrocodone), according to the release.
Nixon was charged with three counts of traffic opium, possession with intent to sell/deliver Schedule III (hydrocodone), sell schedule III (hydrocodone) and deliver schedule III (hydrocodone), according to the release.
King was charged with two counts of traffic opium, two counts of conspiracy to traffic opium, possession with intent to sell/deliver schedule III controlled substance and conspiracy to sell/deliver schedule III controlled substance, according to the release.
All three were jailed, with bail set at $20,000 for each.
