The Sandhills Chapter of SCORE (Counselors to America's Small Business) continues its free "Business Basics" seminar series next Tuesday, Oct. 5, with "Accounting For You and Me."
The seminar begins at 6 p.m. in room 103 of Van Dusen Hall on the Sandhills Community College campus. SCORE and the Small Business Center of Sandhills Community College jointly sponsor this series of six seminars, a valuable package for every entrepreneur.
To register for the seminar call the Small Business Center at (910) 695-3938. Registration will also be available beginning at 5:30 p.m. the day of the seminar.
Effective management of a small business requires a comprehensive understanding of its financial aspects, a SCORE news release said. This informative seminar features Howard Gartman, an experienced local certified public accountant, who will make the "world of accounting" easy to understand.
The program will provide valuable insights and understanding into the key financial documents vital to every business, SCORE said. The purpose is not to make each attendee an accountant but a savvy owner who will be able to manage his/her business much more efficiently knowing how to translate the numbers and look for trends and relationships.
SCORE is a nationwide nonprofit association of experienced business people who provide free confidential business counseling to small business owners. The Sandhills Chapter is active in counseling, mentoring and presenting free business seminars.
Anyone wishing to speak to SCORE must register as a client at www.edmisscore.org/0364, and a counselor will contact you.
