Auditions will be held for the Missoula Children's Theatre (MCT) original adaptation of "The Wizard of Oz" Monday, Oct. 4, from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. at the Southern Pines Elementary School Auditorium (255 S. May St.).
Participation is free and open to any student in grades K-8. Everyone auditioning should arrive promptly at 3:30 and plan to stay for the full two hours. No prior theater experience is necessary, and a rehearsal schedule will be given out immediately after the auditions. Some of the cast members will be asked to stay for a rehearsal immediately following the audition.
MCT is a youth theater company that brings everything needed for a complete children's musical production. The MCT Tour actor/directors will conduct rehearsals throughout the week from 3:30 to 8 p.m. each day.
"They arrive in town, hold auditions, rehearse and lead a cast of 50 young actors in a full musical, all in one week," says Kim Sobat, youth program director for the ACMC.
The performances of "The Wizard of Oz" will be Oct. 8-9 at the Southern Pines Elementary School Auditorium.
