Will Faudree and the 11-year-old gelding Pawlow finished an impressive second in the advanced division at the American Eventing Championships at Chattahoochee Hills in Fairburn, Ga., last weekend.

Faudree, 28, moved into second place with Jennifer Mosing's Irish thoroughbred after posting a double-clear stadium round. Faudree and Pawlow began the day in ninth place with a score of 44.0, after running one of the fastest cross-country rounds and tacking on only 6.8 time penalties.

Faudree, who is based at Gavilan Farms in Hoffman, also rode Mosing's 9-year-old mare Andromaque in the advanced division. The pair were sitting in 11th place after cross-country but withdrew before stadium.

Faudree's joy over Pawlow's second-place effort was short-lived: The gelding was discovered to have a mild injury that forced Faudree to withdraw him from consideration for the U.S. Team at the upcoming World Equestrian Games.

Faudree said the injury was "very minor" and would require only two weeks off.

"I withdrew him so I will have a horse for the future," he said.
