Led by Connor Kelly and Katie Hayes, Pinecrest won Tuesday’s Southeastern Conference cross country tri-meet held at the Southern Pines Elks Club course.

The boys’ scores were Pinecrest 21, Purnell Swett 42 and Scotland 70. The girls results were Pinecrest 26, Scotland 30 and Purnell Swett 0.

Running unattached, Peter Deucher had the best time in the boys’ 5K race of 18:03. Following Kelly (18:49) for the Patriot boys in the conference competition were Landon Sherwood, third (18:52), Tyler Clark,fourth (19:36), Matthew Harmody, sixth (19:57) and Jacob Troutman, seventh (20:32).

The winning time by Hayes was 27:14. The other Patriot girls figuring in the scoring were Laura Ott, third (28:25), Mary-Katherine Johnston, fourth (29:50), Abby Middleton, seventh (31:17) and Lexi Martinez, 11th (33:50).
