The Union Pines volleyball team captured a critical four-set Cape Fear Valley Conference victory against Westover Tuesday.

With the 25-16, 25-18, 15-25, 25-16 win, the Vikings improved to 2-2 in CFV league play and 7-4 overall. Crystal Hicks came up huge again for Union Pines. The junior captain finished with 10 kills and eight digs.

Another boost came in the form of a six-dig, two-block, four-kill outing from sophomore Tyler Ross, who returned to action after a missing four matches with a shoulder injury. Viking Anna Sadler added six digs and Cassidy Walker had six digs.

Junior Lexi Byrd led the Vikings with 10 digs, while captain Morgan Bridgers had a match-high 17 assists.

Union Pines was scheduled to take on Southern Lee in a CFV league tilt Thursday.
